Bonsai Skosh is a portal to showcase my work.

My name is Boris Lomov and I am a bonsai pot maker located in Australia. All my pots are handmade. I specialise in painted (e. g. sometsuke, aka-e) and wood-fired bonsai pots. My style is strongly influenced by aesthetics of the Far East, especially Japan, and I sign my work with an artist sobriquet 木川 (Kigawa) which is a rough translation of my last name to Japanese. Pottery is not my full-time occupation and I sell bonsai pots only occasionally. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular pot.

Below, my work is divided into three categories. Click on images to see more pots of each type.

WOOD-FIRED POTSThese pots undergo a lengthy and labor intensive process of firing in the kiln where wood is used as fuel. The results are unpredictable and unrepeatable.

PAINTED POTSThe designs on these pots are hand-painted. It takes many hours to complete a single small pot. My painting style is influenced by the Japanese traditions.
